Amnesty International said Western countries apply "double standards" when it comes to dealing with human rights abuses around the world, highlighted by their tough and swift response to Russia's invasion of Ukraine.
"The West's forceful response to Russia's aggression against Ukraine contrasts sharply with the unfortunate lack of meaningful action on grave abuses by some of their allies, including Israel," the organization said in a statement after issuing its annual report on Monday.
"Amnesty International's Annual Report 2022 highlights double standards around the world on human rights and the failure of the international community to unite around human rights and universal values," she said.
"Russia's invasion of Ukraine is a chilling example of what can happen when states believe they can violate international law and violate human rights without consequences," a press release quoted Amnesty International's Secretary-General Agnès Callamard as saying.
