Algeria has refused a French request to fly over its airspace for a military operation in Niger, state radio said late on Monday.
"France is preparing to implement its threats to the military council in Niger related to military intervention in the event that President Mohamed Bazoum is not released," Algerian radio said.
It noted that Algeria, which has always been against the use of force, did not respond to the French request to cross Algerian airspace to attack Niger, and its response was firm and clear.
"Algeria opposes any foreign military action in neighboring Niger and favors diplomacy to restore constitutional order", the state radio added.
