Saudi club Al Ittihad have officially announced the signing of Nigerian striker George Ilenikhena from French side AS Monaco during the ongoing winter transfer window.
The club unveiled the deal through a video highlighting the player’s goals and technical abilities, accompanied by the caption: “The talented George Ilenikhena… a new tiger for Al Ittihad.”
So far, Al Ittihad have not disclosed the financial details or the length of the contract.
The signing comes just hours after the departure of veteran French forward Karim Benzema, who completed a move to rivals Al Hilal, prompting Al Ittihad to move quickly in the transfer market to reinforce their attacking options.
Ilenikhena, 19, is considered one of the promising young talents in European football.
During the current season, he has made 20 appearances for Monaco across all competitions, scoring four goals.
Al Ittihad’s acquisition of the young striker signals a shift toward investing in emerging talent as the club looks to reshape its squad following Benzema’s exit and maintain its competitive edge in domestic and continental competitions.
