Al Ahly SC were knocked out of the Egypt Capital Cup after a 2–1 loss to Tala’ea El Gaish on Thursday evening at Al Salam Stadium, in the final round of the group stage.

The match was played without several international players, who are currently on duty with the Egypt national football team at the Africa Cup of Nations in Morocco. Despite taking the lead late in the first half, Al Ahly failed to maintain control as Tala’ea El Gaish mounted a decisive second-half comeback.

Al Ahly opened the scoring in the 43rd minute through Gradishar, finishing a well-constructed attacking move after sustained pressure. Tala’ea El Gaish responded after the break, with Mohamed Atef leveling the score in the 58th minute before Fares Hatem struck the winner in the 79th minute.

Al Ahly dominated much of the first half, creating chances through Hussein El Shahat, Mohamed Abdallah, and Mohamed Ali Ben Romdhane, while Tala’ea El Gaish relied on quick counterattacks. The tempo shifted noticeably in the second half, as Al Ahly’s performance dipped despite several substitutions, allowing Tala’ea El Gaish to take control and secure victory.

With the result, Al Ahly finished the group stage on six points and exited the competition, while Tala’ea El Gaish advanced to the next round with 13 points, confirming their qualification and ending Al Ahly’s Egypt Capital Cup campaign at the group stage.
