After 80 years, drawings and caricatures of legendary political cartoonist Alexander Saroukhan will be displayed at the Russian Cultural Center on Tuesday, April 27, at 9 P.M.
The exhibition comes as a part of the “In Memory of Caricatures in Egypt,” project, under the auspices of the Russian Ambassador to Egypt Georgiy Borisenko.
It will be opened by Yuriy Matveev, the Minister Plenipotentiary in Cairo, and Alexei Tiffanyan, Director of the Russian Cultural Center, in the presence of Sherif Gad, President of the Egyptian Association of Graduates of Russian and Soviet Universities, Abdullah Al-Sawy, the founder of the project, as well as the families of Rakha and Saroukhan.

On his part, Tiffanyan asserted that the exhibition is one of the prominent activities in the Russian Cultural Center, noting that it will take place within the framework of the Year of Humanitarian Cooperation between Russia and Egypt, as well as the 76th anniversary of Russia's victory in World War II.
Moreover, Tiffanyan thanked Saroukhan’s family for their full confidence in bringing the original works in order to be displayed at the exhibition.
The exhibition will also include historical works which will be seen by both the Egyptian and Russian public the first time in 80 years.

Meantime, Al-Sawy affirmed that Saroukhan was able to express the Egyptian political scene and the national spirit through his caricatures. He also expressed his immense happiness with accomplishing this major project, appreciating the Russian Cultural Center’s support.
Astonishingly, Saroukhan presented many works related to “the July Revolution” and “the October War”, in addition to portraits of Egyptian Presidents and Leaders such as Saad Zaghloul, Muhammad Naguib, Gamal Abdel Nasser and many more.

Sylvia Nardian, the granddaughter of Saroukhan, expressed the family’s deep happiness by presenting her grandfather's works in the presence of a group of Egyptian cartoonists and the media.
Furthermore, Nardian talked about her big dream to establish a museum for displaying Saroukhan’s complete works.
