As the army and the paramilitary Rapid Support Forces (RSF) clashed in Sudan on Saturday, the African Union (AU) demanded a cease-fire.
The head of the AU Commission, Moussa Faki Mahamat, issued a heartfelt appeal to all parties, including the armed forces and the quick reaction forces, to swiftly put an end to the devastation of the nation, the terror among the populace, and the bloodshed.
The international community, according to Faki, should "combine, in unity and urgency, their efforts to bring the parties to immediately cease military actions and return to the negotiating table for a satisfactory end to the crisis for all."
