African peace envoys held a meeting with Ethiopian prime minister Abiy Ahmed today. This meeting came after Abiy announced that the Ethiopian army has started the final military operation in Tigray.
He stressed that he won't set any talks with Tigray until they surrender.
Earlier, the Ethiopian government called on Tigray troops to surrender before Wednesday. In case Tigray troops did not surrender, the Ethiopian troops would attack Mekelle, Tigray capital.
In the same context, African Union president Cyril Ramaphosa revealed that the union would send its peace envoys to Addis Ababa to share in solving the dispute.
