Adel Imam Mourns Veteran Actress Ragaa El Geddawy

Egyptian artist Adel Imam mourned the late actress and model, Ragaa El Geddawy, who died on Sunday morning after she contracted the novel coronavirus.

Egyptian actress Ragaa El-Gedawy died in a quarantine hospital, weeks after testing positive for the COVID-19. She was 81.

"Ragaa El-Geddawy passed away this morning due to COVID-19," the Egyptian actors' union head Ashraf Zaki told the AFP news agency.

Al-Zaeem, Imam's most known nickname, published a photo of him with the late artist, from the play Al-Wad Sayed Al-Shaghal, on his account on Instagram.

"Goodbye, the veteran artist Ragaa El-Geddawy," Imam wrote on his Instagram account.

El-Geddawy died after she spent 43 days at Ismailia Abu Khalifa Isolation Hospital in Ismailia, since she was infected with the emerging coronavirus “COVID-19”.

The 81-year-old actress was transferred on June 2 into the ICU, after her health condition deteriorated.

She was transferred immediately to the ICU after she felt shortness of breath, headache, and circulatory collapse in the early hours of the morning.
