This morning, a large bomb explosion rocked an area near Bole International airport, in the Ethiopian capital of Addis Ababa, according to Sky News Arabia.
No injuries were reported.
Experts said that the war that has been waging by the Ethiopian government for nearly a month against Tigray People's Liberation Front (TPLF) forces, may turn into guerrilla warfare.
The fighting that broke out on November 4 is believed to have claimed thousands of lives, pushed refugees into Sudan, dragged Eritrea into conflict, and exacerbated hunger and suffering among Tigray's population of more than 5 million.
There are still reports of clashes between the federal forces of Ethiopian Prime Minister (PM) Abiy Ahmed and the TPLF forces, although communications remain almost completely cut off in Tigray, and entry to the region is prohibited.
On Saturday, Ethiopia Prime Minister (PM) Abiy Ahmed announced that his army has taken full control of the Tigray capital of Mekele, after battles that lasted about 3 weeks.
“We’ve been able to enter Mekele city without innocent civilians being targets,” Abiy was quoted as saying by Ethiopian Broadcasting Corporation (EBC).
In a tweet, Abiy said, “the Federal government is in full control of the city of Mekele,” adding that the army would now locate Tigray’s leaders and arrest them.
