Egypt’s Parliament Deputy Speaker MP Mohamed Abou El-Enien affirmed that a few hours are away until the envisioned meeting of the United Nations (UN) Security Council on the Grand Ethiopian Renaissance Dam (GERD)  will kick off.

Abou El-Enein said the meeting will reveal whether we live in an international community that seeks to achieve human rights and defend the right to life for 150 million people in Egypt and Sudan, or the fact is that the world resorts to bogus slogans and discards fears for the lives of peoples.

I have got the full trust in the ability of the Egyptian leadership to handle the problem of the dam which is heading to crossroads.

I trust that Egypt’s leader can end the problem as he can draw red lines that couldn’t be trespassed by anyone whoever he is. Egypt is an influential player in the global level.

Egypt will impose the status quo to terminate a repeated scenario of negotiating that has lasted for ten years. The most populous Arab nation is going to address the world as we attempted many times throughout a decade of negotiating that we sought peace which keeps rights of all states in the Nile River.

Today, the international community should take responsibility to save the lives of peoples and keep security and stability in the region.

It must shoulder its responsibility and don’t give Egypt one option only as water for our people is life and we can fight for our survival.

The water of the Nile is national security for us and it is a sacred matter like prayers. Defending the Nile is "an obligation and not a choice".

In our homeland, a president never disappointed his people any day and people mobilized and supported the leader. In our motherland, the army protect our national security and defend every drop of water.

It is a mighty and honorable army that inclines to peace, saves lives bestowed by Allah to man, but this army is more formidable when it struggles to defend patriots.

For God and my country- Egypt.
