The Secretary-General of the League of Arab States, Ahmed Aboul Gheit, received the British Minister of State for the Middle East and North Africa, James Cleverley, who is currently visiting Cairo.
An official source in the General Secretariat of the League stated that Aboul Gheit discussed with Cleverly the bilateral cooperation between the Arab League and Britain, praising the historical relations between the two sides.
During the meeting, they exchanged views on a number of regional and international issues, including developments in Iraq in light of the results of the parliamentary elections.
Aboul Gheit reiterated the Arab League's satisfaction with the circumistances of the electoral process and its contribution to strengthening the sovereignty of the Iraqi state, expressing full support to Iraq in this regard.
