During the 8th Summit of Speakers of Parliaments for the Union for the Mediterranean in Morocco, Egyptian Parliament Deputy Speaker Mohamed Abou El-Enein expressed his deep concern for the people of Gaza, depicting their situation as living in a "large prison" devoid of basic life pleasures for the past 17 years. He questioned the whereabouts of human rights in their plight.
In his address, Abou El-Enein underscored the global calls, including those from Egypt at various international platforms, for a lasting and equitable resolution to instill peace in the Middle East. He pointed out the prolonged suffering over 70 years due to the Israeli occupation of Palestine and the Palestinian populace's dissatisfaction and rejection of Israeli practices on their territory.
Abou El-Enein stressed that the problem has grown to a global scale, no longer confined to just the Palestinian and Israeli communities but now presenting a wider threat capable of destabilizing the entire region at any moment. He recounted the daily violence and destruction inflicted upon the defenseless Palestinian people, including women, children, and the powerless.
The Egyptian lawmaker vehemently opposed any discussions on the forced displacement of the Palestinian people, affirming their resolve to stay on their land and die for it, with full support. He declared that the Palestinian people have an inalienable right that should be recognized globally, condemning the killing of innocents and illegitimate terrorist acts.
Concluding his speech, Abou El-Enein reiterated the Palestinian people's right to reclaim their land and remove the occupation, commending Egypt's immediate efforts in standing up to the world and opening its doors for humanitarian aid.
