Ethiopian Prime Minister (PM) Abiy Ahmed said on Monday that Ethiopia is not heading for 'Chaos' due to the military operation launched by the federal government in the northern Tigray region, according to Reuters.
In a tweet, Abiy said, “Ethiopia is grateful for friends expressing their concern.”
“Concerns that Ethiopia will descend into chaos are unfounded and a result of not understanding our context deeply," he continued.
It is worth mentioning that, the Ethiopian parliament voted to dissolve the local government in the federal region of Tigray on Saturday and to appoint a new local government after Addis Ababa launched a military operation in the region.
Fears are mounting that a civil war may erupt after Abiy deployed federal forces to the region with which the government has entered into a severe conflict.
On Friday, Abiy pledged to launch airstrikes on the Tigray region and defended his decision of the need to launch a limited military operation to restore order in the region.
