On Wednesday, President Abdel-Fattah El-Sisi appointed Abdel-Maguid Sakr as the Minister of Defense and Military Production.
President El Sisi promoted Sakr to the rank of lieutenant general, according to Extra News.
Sakr will succeed Mohamed Zaki, commander-in-chief of the Armed Forces and minister of defense and military production who held the position since June 2018.
