The Arab Academy for Science, Technology and Maritime Transport (AASTMT), one of the Arab League-affiliated organizations, has announced that it welcomes the temporary or permanent enrollment of Lebanese students who wish to join the various academy colleges until life in Lebanon returns to normal again.
On his part, Dr. Ismail Abdel Ghaffar Ismail Farag, the AASTMT president, said that the academy's announcement to enroll Lebanese students includes various colleges in all its branches, such as dentistry, pharmacy, engineering, maritime transport, administration, mass-communication, computer and information technology.
Abdel Ghaffar added that It comes within the framework of the Arab League’s efforts to support the government and people of Lebanon, and providing urgent assistance to the Arab country which faces humanitarian, social, and economic repercussions of the huge explosion that have rocked Beirut last week.
He confirmed that there is a joint cooperation between the AASTMT and the Lebanese Ministry of Maritime Transport in the field of maritime transport and logistics, pointing out that coordination is currently underway with the chairman of the Port of Tripoli, to develop the information infrastructure of the port.
He added that they are discussing the participation of experts from the to develop security plans for the Lebanese ports in accordance with the international standards set by the International Maritime Organization and rehabilitate the human cadres that will be tasked with implementing these plans.
The AASTMT chairman stressed the necessity of expanding the shipping course of the port of Sidon, urging the Arab countries to contribute to providing some machines used in the deepening works of the port.
