Israeli airstrikes targeted ports and infrastructure in Yemen on Thursday, killing nine people and disrupting operations at three critical ports.
The strikes, according to Israeli authorities, aimed to neutralize facilities allegedly used for military purposes by the Iranian-backed Houthi group.
The Israeli Ministry of Defense confirmed that its forces intercepted a ballistic missile launched by the Houthis toward a school in Ramat Gan, averting a potential disaster.
Defense Minister Yisrael Katz stated, "Israel's long arm will reach Houthi leaders in Yemen," underscoring the country's resolve to respond to threats originating from the region.
Houthi-controlled media outlet Al-Masirah reported that seven fatalities occurred following a strike on the port of Al-Salif, while two individuals were killed in attacks on the Ras Isa oil terminal in Yemen’s western Hudaydah province.
Additionally, the airstrikes reportedly hit two central power stations located south and north of the capital, Sana’a.
The Israeli Defense Forces (IDF) disclosed in a statement that the operation involved 14 fighter jets, aerial refueling planes, and reconnaissance aircraft.
