At least 8 people were killed by a cyclone that hit northwest Mozambique on Friday.
The National Institute for Disaster Risk Management said that a cyclone hit Nampula province, killed eight people, including a child.
Cyclone "Gombe" hit the country last night with strong winds and torrential rain, causing extensive damage to homes, according to the Meteorological Department.
The cyclone also led power and water to cut out, as well as difficulty in communicating via mobile phones.
Later, the strength of the cyclone weakened, which turned into a tropical storm, bur still caused heavy rains in many provinces neighboring Nampula.
