The Russian invasion of Ukraine radically transformed American public opinion; 70 percent of Americans now consider Russia an enemy of the United States of America (USA).

On this topic, Democrats and Republicans largely agree, with 72 percent of Democrats and 69 percent of Republicans calling Russia the enemy.

A recent poll by the US Pew Research Center, conducted from March 21 to 27, found that only 7 percent of adults in the United States had a positive opinion of Russia, and only 6 percent expressed confidence in its leader, President Vladimir Putin. In contrast, 72 percent trust Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky.

The ongoing war has also brought renewed attention to North Atlantic Treaty Organization (NATO), although Ukraine is not a member of the alliance but borders many member states.

NATO leaders have worked together in recent weeks to coordinate their responses to the crisis.

American attitudes toward the alliance have become more positive since the Russian invasion.
