In order to be fully prepared for Ramadan, there are some tips you need to follow before fasting during the holy month to combat thirst and physical fatigue.
Avoid Fatty Meals
People should avoid eating too much sugar and fatty food as eating too much fat can increase your risk for a number of health threat, as well as causing stress.
Drink 2 Liters of Water Per Day
Drinking large quantities of water is a common misconception that has grown up around the world, as people strongly believe this way will help them combat their thirst in Ramadan.
By contrary, drinking much water can lead to diarrhea due to consuming large quantities of water in excess of the body's need. Hence, the most appropriate way to do it is drinking only two liters per day.
Have Moisturizing Foods
People should have moisturizing foods in their meals such as cucumbers, leafy vegetables like lettuce and arugula, in addition to yogurt, as it contains high vitamins and controls the thirst.
Sleep Early
Dr. Magdy Badran, a member of the Egyptian Society of Allergy and Immunology, explains that people must sleep early and avoid staying up very late to avoid physical fatigue, lack of energy, and poor circulation, especially in the case of high temperature.
Furthermore, he affirmed that improving the quality of sleep strengthens immunity and helps to distribute nerve conductors and hormones in your body in a balanced manner.
It is preferable to sleep 8 hours per day early in complete darkness without any noise, staying away from social media to avoid considerable stress and tension.
Avoid Soft Drinks & Sodas
You need to quit drinking soft drinks during Ramadan to avoid high blood pressure (HBP) and feeling thirsty.
Quit Caffeine or Coffee
Badran advised to stay away from all types of stimulants, such as "tea and coffee", as they contain caffeine, which causes the body to dry out and feel thirsty.
Do Simple At-Home Workout
People should also do simple exercises at home such as walking for half an hour, push-ups, burpees or squats.
