In a devastating incident, three adults and two children tragically lost their lives in southern Poland when powerful winds uprooted trees, crushing them, according to emergency responders.

Hubert Cieply, spokesperson for the region's firefighters, confirmed that in the town of Rabka-Zdrój, two women and a 6-year-old child were fatally crushed by fallen trees.

In a separate incident, a woman lost her life when a tree collapsed onto her car in Zakopane, situated at the base of the Tatra Mountains, as stated by Andrzej Król-Łęgowski, spokesperson for Zakopane's firefighters.

Additionally, another child perished in Zakopane after being struck by a falling tree, according to Pawel Mickowski, spokesperson for medical responders.

Authorities have issued a warning regarding the hazardous winds, reaching speeds of at least 100 kph (62 mph), prompting the closure of mountain tracks within Tatra National Park.

This tragic event serves as a somber reminder of the unpredictability of nature's forces and underscores the importance of staying vigilant and prepared during extreme weather conditions.
