According to Dr. Khaled El Sherif, Assistant Minister of Tourism and Antiquities for Digital Transformation, approximately 2,100 tourists entered the temple before sunrise to witness the phenomenon.
The sun aligned with the sacred temple of Abu Simbel, emerging through the waters of Lake Nasser and penetrating the 60-meter entrance passage until it touched the face of King Ramses, seated in the sanctuary. This unique astronomical and engineering marvel occurs only twice a year, on February 22nd and October 22nd.
Thousands of tourists lined up to enter the temple and witness this extraordinary event, which lasted for only 20 minutes. Tourists arrived at the southern tourist city by air, land, and river trips.
