At least, 20 people were killed, and 11 others were injured in an accident that occurred on the New Year's Eve in Ain Umqul in Tamanrasset, according to the Algerian Civil Protection.
The Algerian Civil Protection said that that the accident occurred at 110 km from Arak, towards Tamanrasset.
11 people aboard the vehicle were also injured in the accident near Ain Mguel town in the desert province of Tamanrasset, 2,000 km (1,250 miles) from the capital Algiers, it said in a statement.
Tamanrasset is a crossing point for illegal migrants from neighboring countries, mainly Mali and Niger.
