Following heavy rainfall, around 192,000 people living near the rivers Hesbaye, Aa, Liane, and Canche in France are currently at risk of flooding, as reported by the French region of Pas-de-Calais on Wednesday evening.

Due to the flood risks, 74 schools in northern France will remain closed on Thursday and Friday.

Since the start of the flooding on Monday, firefighting teams have been called in for 860 missions.

Drinking water supplies have been cut off for 5,200 people, who have received bottled water. About 60 homes have been submerged.

France's national weather agency, "Météo France," has stated that continuous rainfall has also caused small rivers in northern France to overflow their banks.

Over the past 20 days, three times the usual amount of rainfall has fallen.

In some areas, the rainfall in six days equals the typical amount for the entire month of November. Aerial photos from the newspaper "La Voix du Nord" show extensive areas of land underwater.
