United Nations (UN) Secretary-General António Guterres affirmed that UN will not participate in any aid scheme for Gaza that fails to uphold international law and the principles of humanity, integrity, independence, and neutrality.
He noted that the United Nations has developed a comprehensive humanitarian plan covering all stages of aid delivery to Gaza. This includes inspection and screening of aid at crossing points, transportation of aid from the border to humanitarian facilities, preparation of supplies for distribution, and finally, delivery to those in need.
The UN Secretary-General also revealed that supplies sufficient to fill 9,000 trucks are currently awaiting entry into Gaza.
He issued an urgent appeal to ensure the delivery of life-saving aid to the people of Gaza, who have endured prolonged suffering.
