British Prime Minister (PM) Keir Starmer is set to welcome his Palestinian counterpart, Mohammad Mustafa, in a show of the United Kingdom’s "steadfast" support for the Palestinian state, The Guardian reported on Monday.
The newspaper noted that Starmer and Foreign Secretary David Lammy will meet with Mustafa during his first official visit to the UK since 2021, though no details have been disclosed regarding the exact date of the visit.
According to the report, the British government will unveil an aid package worth £101 million aimed at supporting humanitarian relief, economic development, governance, and reform initiatives in Palestine.
Additionally, the UK Foreign Secretary and Prime Minister Mustafa are expected to sign a memorandum of understanding that underscores their commitment to strengthening the Palestinian state as part of a two-state solution.
The agreement will emphasize the necessity of uniting Gaza and the West Bank under the Palestinian Authority, recognized as the sole legitimate governing body of the Palestinian territories, according to the newspaper.
