Turkish Foreign Minister (FM) Hakan Fidan held a phone conversation with his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, to discuss ongoing peace efforts aimed at resolving the conflict in Ukraine.
Both ministers exchanged views on the latest initiatives to promote peace between Russia and Ukraine.
Earlier, Russian President Vladimir Putin proposed resuming direct negotiations with Ukraine without preconditions, suggesting Istanbul as the venue for talks on May 15.
The Russian leader also indicated that a ceasefire agreement could potentially be reached during these negotiations.
