CAIRO, Feb. 23 (SEE)- On Friday, the U.S. Ambassador to Canada Kelly Knight Craft was singled out by President Donald Trump to be the upcoming U.S. ambassador to the United Nations (U.N.).

Mr. Trump is convinced of Mrs. Craft’s potentials as he wrote on twitter that the latter “has done an outstanding job representing our nation” and he has “no doubt that, under her leadership, our country will be represented at the highest level.

Actually, Mr. Trump’s nomination makes the Kentucky-native candidate the first female to hold this position as soon as she succeeds Nikki Haley who gave up in November 2018 his permanent representation for America at the U.N.

Mrs. Craft is married to coal mogul Joe Craft and they both have supported Trump in the 2016 presidential elections, financially and morally. One speculation is that she was favored as the U.S. ambassador to Canada as a redeem to their $2 million donations for the president’s campaign.

The 57-year-old nominee is kind of familiar with her awaiting duties as under President George W. Bush, Craft was a member of the U.S. delegation to the U.N. General Assembly.

Whilst being the U.S. Ambassador to Canada, Craft helped in passing the U.S.-Mexico-Canada trade agreement. Also, her time there was not enviable as last year Mr. Trump raged Canadians after branding Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau as someone who is weak and dishonest.

At first, Trump proposed State Department Spokeswoman Heather Nauert for the post, yet she withdrew after unleashing her illegal hiring for nanny. Besides, she was criticized for lacking enough experience in foreign policy that would aid her in this sophisticated diplomatic role.

The President also had U.S. Ambassador to Germany Richard Grenell and former U.S. Senate candidate John James of Michigan in mind for the tenure.

Ambassador Francois Delattre, France’s envoy to the U.N., expressed his tendency’s to work with Craft, if approved by the Senate, especially after the “trusting partnership” he initiated with Ambassador Haley.

“I hope that Ms. Craft will continue, like Nikki Haley, to be a bridge between Washington and the UN at a time when we more than ever need an America that is engaged with the U.N. in world affairs and committed to our shared values, beginning with human rights,” DeLattre said.

In line with the current U.S. administration’s controversial policies regarding almost every global crisis, filling the vacancy at the U.N. was a necessity. And, once confirmed, Craft will carry the burden of defending Trump’s “America First” notion in front of the whole world.
