SEE-July22: Following a total solar eclipse, the world will witness the longest lunar eclipse of the 21st century next Friday that is expected to last for an hour and 43 minutes.

Lunar eclipses occur when Earth's shadow blocks the sun's light. The longest eclipses take place during summer while the shortest eclipses happen during winter in the northern hemisphere.

Unfortunately some places like North America won't be able to see the phenomena because the moon will be below the horizon. However ,Africa, Middle East, and Central Asia will enjoy watching the blood moon while Europe, Eastern Asia, Australia, Indonesia, and other regions will only enjoy a partial lunar eclipse.

People don’t need special equipment to watch the spectacular view, it is completely safe to look at it with naked eye.

For watching the lunar eclipse you can follow the advice given by Dr. Helen Klus, an astronomer at the Royal Astronomical Society.

She said “If you are quite new to this you don’t need to spend a lot of money, or any money really, but if you wanted to you could buy a pair of binoculars."

According to NASA the next lunar eclipse observed from North America on Jan.21,2019 will only last one hour and 2 minutes.

People can watch the celestial lunar eclipse online at their home via different live streams.
