Sisi, Greek PM Discuss Situation in Gaza

Egypt's President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi received a phone call from Greek Prime Minister (PM) Kyriakos Mitsotakis on Tuesday.

During the phone call, Greek PM affirmed  his country's aspiration to continue to strengthen and activate the joint cooperation between both countries during the new presidential term of the President, within the framework of the historical close relations between the friendly peoples.

He also highlighted both countries' keenness to continue consultations and coordinate positions on developments in the Eastern Mediterranean and Middle East regions.

On his part, Sisi praised the strategic nature of the relations between the two countries, stressing Egypt's keenness to continue pushing the relations to broader horizons, whether at the bilateral level or through the trilateral cooperation mechanism with Cyprus.

The call also discussed the situation in the Gaza Strip, where the President reviewed the Egyptian efforts to stop the fire and the flow of humanitarian aid, stressing the importance of the international community fulfilling its responsibilities to stop the suffering of the Palestinian people and rescue them from the humanitarian tragedy they are facing.

For his part, Greek PM confirmed his country's appreciation for the Egyptian role in pushing for a de-escalation. 

Furthermore, the two leaders agreed to continue consultations and coordination to work to consolidate security and stability in the region.
