Torrential rainfall has triggered devastating floods across eastern Australia, resulting in at least one fatality and leaving around 50,000 residents stranded, authorities confirmed on Thursday.

The hardest-hit areas are in New South Wales, where relentless downpours overwhelmed rivers and inundated communities. Emergency services have been working around the clock to reach affected regions, some of which remain inaccessible due to rising floodwaters.

New South Wales Premier Chris Minns addressed the crisis, warning that the situation may worsen in the coming hours. He emphasized that residents should remain vigilant, as forecasts indicate the potential for further rainfall and flooding.

This natural disaster has caused widespread disruption, with roads cut off, homes damaged, and emergency evacuation efforts underway. The impact has been described as catastrophic for local communities, many of whom are facing prolonged isolation and loss of essential services.
