Qatar’s Prime Minister (PM) and Foreign Minister (FM), Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman Al Thani, stated that his country continues to work with Egypt and the United States (U.S.) to reach the second phase of the Gaza agreement and to end the war.
During a joint press conference with his Turkish counterpart, Al Thani expressed deep concern over the collapse of the ceasefire in Gaza.
He added, "We will continue our efforts with partners to end the war on Gaza, and we stress the importance of working towards the release of detainees."
After nearly 15 months of conflict, a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas began on January 19, lasting for six weeks during the first phase of the agreement.
It allowed for the return of 33 detainees to Israel, including eight who were deceased, while Israel released approximately 1,800 Palestinian prisoners from its jails.
However, on March 18, the Israeli military resumed its operations in the Gaza Strip, launching heavy airstrikes and thereby violating the ceasefire agreement reached in January.
