The United States is facing a significant measles outbreak across multiple states, with 11 separate outbreaks reported nationwide.
According to American media, an outbreak is defined as the detection of at least three cases in a single location.
Data released Friday by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) confirmed 884 measles cases across the country since the start of 2025.
This marks a sharp increase compared to previous years, raising concerns among public health authorities.
The CDC reported that measles infections have now been confirmed in 30 states and territories. The outbreaks have led to 94 hospitalizations and three deaths attributed to complications from the disease.
In comparison, only 285 measles cases were recorded during the same period last year, highlighting a dramatic rise in infections.
This alarming trend has prompted US health officials to intensify calls for the public to ensure vaccinations are up-to-date, stressing the importance of immunization in preventing further spread.
The CDC continues to urge individuals, particularly children and those traveling internationally, to receive the recommended measles, mumps, and rubella (MMR) vaccine to curb the resurgence of this highly contagious virus.
