Palestinian medical sources reported Thursday that 40 Palestinians were killed in Israeli airstrikes on the Gaza Strip over the past 24 hours, marking one of the deadliest days since the latest escalation began.
Meanwhile, Israeli forces raided the town of Za’tara, east of Bethlehem, on Thursday and arrested two Palestinians during a pre-dawn operation in the city of Nablus, according to the official Palestinian news agency, Wafa.
The recent surge in violence comes amid growing international pressure to prevent a wider conflict. On Wednesday, Israel’s public broadcaster reported that the country’s security cabinet decided to give a final chance for negotiations before expanding military operations in Gaza.
The report added that several international actors are pressuring Hamas to accept a U.S.-brokered proposal aimed at securing a long-term truce and a potential prisoner exchange deal.
The situation remains tense as regional and global actors continue to push for a ceasefire, while developments on the ground signal a deepening crisis.
