Senegal earned a well deserved 2-0 win over Tanzania in their first African Cup of Nations match on Sunday. Liverpool forward Sadio Mane was suspended for an accumulation of yellow cards during the qualifiers, but it didn't make much difference either way.

The Lions are seen as the most likely challengers to tournament hosts Egypt for the title, as both nations have squads full of star studded players.

Senegal kept Tanzania inside the penalty area for the whole 15 minutes of the first half, with the ambitious team failing to find their ground early on in the match.

Kalidou Koulibaly headed over from a corner before Senegal broke the deadlock in the 28th minute, through a well placed shot by Inter Milan star Keita Balde.

Senegal finally added a second in the 64th after an error by the Tanzania defense found Diatta who struck a ferocious half-volley that flew into the net from the edge of the area.
