Pyramids defeated El-Ahly with one clean goal in a rather even match that saw the red team performing with only 10 players from the 71st minute. The victory allows Pyramids to qualify for the quarter finals.
The team is set to clash with Harass El-Hedoud on the 28th of August with the hope of winning their first major national title. This is considered to be the fourth time in a row Pyramids defeated El-Ahly.
El-Ahly started the match strongly losing their first chance after a strong shot from Ramadan Sobhy in the 23rd minute which was saved by Ahmed El-Shennawy.
Shennawy made his second major save in the first half after intercepting Walid Azzuro's shot which was crossed by Aly Maaloul in the 33rd minute.
In the second half, Pyramids found their lead after Eric Traore scored the only goal of the match in the 55th minute after a great team work effort.
Things took a turn for the worse after El-Ahly's Ayman Ashraf was sent off in the 71st minute after receiving his second yellow card when he tackled Traore
From then El-Ahly tried desperately to even the score but with no avail as Pyramids went on to win their ticket to the quarter finals.
