Pharaohs have become the second side, after Nigeria, to advance to the last 16 of the Africa Cup of Nations as they defeated DR Congo on Wednesday.

Hull City's right winger Ahmed Elmohamady opened the scoring after 24 minutes when he managed to score the first goal.

Liverpool star Mohamed Salah then doubled the advantage with a shot past Leopards' goalkeeper Ley Matampi.

This win put Egypt top of Group A after Uganda's Cranes held a 1-1 draw against Zimbabwe's Warriors earlier earlier.

The Pharaohs now have six points from their two games after a 1-0 win over Zimbabwe in their first match on Friday, June 21.

The top two teams in each of the six groups will advance to the knock-out stage, along with the four best third-placed nations.

Next, Egypt will take on Uganda on Sunday, June 30 (21:00 CLT), while DR Congo will face Zimbabwe in the final round of group games.
