Morocco secured their place in the Round of 16 of the FIFA U-17 World Cup after defeating the United States on penalties, in one of eight matches played today as part of the Round of 32 of the tournament held in Qatar.
Several teams booked their qualification, including Switzerland, who advanced at the expense of Egypt’s U-17 team.
The Moroccan U-17 national team booked their ticket to the Round of 16 with a 4–3 penalty shootout victory over the United States, after the match ended in a 1–1 draw in regular time.
The USA opened the scoring in the 21st minute, before Abdallah Ouzane struck a dramatic equalizer for Morocco in the 89th minute, sending the match to penalties, where the Atlas Cubs prevailed.
Egypt’s U-17 team, led by coach Ahmed El-Kass, exited the tournament after a 3–1 defeat to Switzerland. The match was played at Stadium 5 in Aspire Zone in Doha, as part of the Round of 32 in the 20th edition of the U-17 World Cup.
France booked their place in the Round of 16 following a hard-fought win over Colombia. Portugal also advanced after securing a 2–1 victory against Belgium.
Meanwhile, Mali sealed their qualification with a 2–1 win over Zambia.
