Zamalek SC suffered a 1–0 defeat away to Zesco United on Sunday night, a result that complicates Zamalek’s qualification chances in the group stage of the CAF Confederation Cup.
The match, played at Levy Mwanawasa Stadium, was part of the fifth round of group-stage fixtures. Zesco United claimed their first win of the group phase thanks to a second-half penalty.
In the 61st minute, Amin Hever converted from the spot after a foul committed by Ahmed Khodry, giving the Zambian side the decisive goal.
The loss leaves Zamalek in a difficult position in the group standings. The Egyptian club must now secure victory against Kaizer Chiefs in their final group match to guarantee progression to the knockout stage.
