The election committee overseeing the presidential race at FC Barcelona has confirmed that two candidates will continue in the contest for the club’s presidency, while a third contender has officially been eliminated.
Former president Joan Laporta and businessman Víctor Font will remain in the race after both candidates successfully surpassed the minimum number of valid signatures required to run for the position.
According to the club’s official announcement, candidates needed at least 2,337 verified signatures from club members to qualify for the election.
Meanwhile, entrepreneur Marc Ciria was eliminated from the race after failing to reach the required threshold.
The presidential election at Barcelona is scheduled to take place on March 15, with anticipation building around a closely watched contest between Laporta, who previously led the club, and Font, who has been campaigning for structural and sporting reforms at the Catalan giants.
