Jibril Rajoub, President of the Palestinian Football Association, confirmed that Faisal Al-Husseini Stadium in Jerusalem will host the team’s first match in the third round of the 2026 World Cup qualifiers.
Rajoub added, in statements reported by the Palestinian Football Association website, that FIFA President Gian Infantino confirmed to him his desire to attend Palestine’s first match in the decisive round of the qualifiers.
Rajoub added: “For the third stage of the qualifiers, the Al-Fedayeen matches will be held in Jerusalem, and Infantino expressed his desire to be a guest of Palestine on the fifth of next September.”
The President of the Palestinian Federation added: “Reinstalling the home stadium is a priority and a strategy for us, and we will work to provide all the reasons to create the appropriate atmosphere for playing in Palestine, so that the world can see and bear witness to the greatness of our people who work to convey their national message and struggle in various ways, including sports.”
The Palestinian national team and the Australian national team secured qualification from the group to the final round of the World Cup qualifiers.
