Nigeria first football national team officially announced the appointment of Bruno Labbadia as their new head coach, the Nigerian Football Federation (NFF)announced on Tuesday.
The 58-year-old has more than 20 years of coaching career and he coached several popular clubs like Bayer Leverkusen, Hamburg, Stuttgart, Wolfsburg and Hertha Berlin.
Labbadia became the team's third head coach in this year.
Jose Peseiro, who coached the team during the Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON), left the team, and he was replaced by Finidi George who resigned earlier this summer.
NFF General Secretary Dr. Mohammed Sanusi said in a statement: “The NFF executive committee has approved the recommendation of its technical and development sub-committee to appoint Bruno Labbadia as the head coach of the Super Eagles, adding: “The appointment is with immediate effect.”
Labbadia’s first match with Nigeria will be during the AFCON qualifiers as Nigeria will host Benin on September 7 before an away match in Rwanda three days later.
