Italian full-back Alessandro Florenzi, former player of AC Milan and the Italian national team, has officially announced his retirement from football, bringing an end to a distinguished career filled with trophies and memorable moments.

Florenzi, 33, began his journey at AS Roma’s academy, where he rose through the ranks to establish himself as a key figure in the first team.

Over the years, he enjoyed spells with leading European clubs including Valencia, Paris Saint-Germain, and most recently AC Milan, where he concluded his career.

In his farewell message, Florenzi expressed his gratitude: “Thank you for everything, my friend. You taught me to love all the fans, from the first to the last, without exception. Each of you helped me rise from difficult moments, which are part of both football and life.”

He continued: “I want to thank every teammate, every coach, and the staff and management. Thanks to your support and professionalism, I grew both as a player and as a person. A special thank you to those who believed in me 17 years ago, and to all who worked silently behind the scenes — you all left a mark on my life.”

Florenzi concluded: “Today I say goodbye to football, but you will always remain part of me.”

A versatile right-back known for his leadership and consistency, Florenzi also represented Italy on the international stage and was part of the Euro 2020-winning squad under Roberto Mancini.
