Amr El-Ganainy, head of the Egyptian Football Association (EFA), affirmed that Mohamed Salah is in good health despite contracting COVID-19.
It was announced on Friday that Liverpool's Salah tested positive for coronavirus, twice.
This means that, for now, he won’t be able to travel to Togo to compete in the 2021 AFCON qualifiers with Egypt.
EFA Confirms Salah Could Make Comeback
EFA head El-Ganainy said that we shouldn’t rule out Salah completely as his condition is improving and might just be able to make it before the game.
“I can confirm that Salah has corona but he doesn’t have any symptoms. The required protocols were applied and he underwent two PCR tests and both of them were positive,” he told Extra News TV.
“It’s going to be difficult for him to travel to Togo but I want to assure everyone that he’s in good health. He has no symptoms and hopefully he will improve by following the protocol.
“I want to thank the Ministry of Sport and the Ministry of Health for helping Salah recover. All the players are currently following all the health protocols in order to avoid any future contaminations.
Egypt are set to face Togo twice this month, with the first game taking place on Saturday at the Cairo International Stadium, before both sides meet again on November 17th in the Togolese capital, Lome.
