Brazil 's police closed investigating rape allegations against the footballer Neymar. Police explained that they have closed the case due to lack of evidence.

According to AFP, Paris Saint-Germain player Neymar has vehemently denied allegations he raped a Brazilian woman in a Paris hotel in May, but maintains that had consensual sex.

.

The lawyer of a woman who accused the Brazilian footballer of rape reported that he may drop the case unless his client can provide more evidence. But Ms Trindade reported that the tablet holding the recording was stolen from her home.

According to Neymar, the video was allegedly secretly filmed by Ms Trindade on the day after the alleged rape and its full version is reportedly seven minutes long.

Later, a one-minute clip from the video, which showed an altercation in a bedroom purportedly between the two, was broadcast on Brazil's TV Record last week.

Noteworthy, the affair dominated headlines and conversations in the football-mad country for months, which overshadowed Brazil’s preparations for the Copa América. In addition, Neymar will not participate in the upcoming Copa América, which is set to be held in Brazil, because of ankle ligament injury.

Last Thursday, Brazilian soccer superstar Neymar arrived at a police station in Rio de Janeiro to give a statement following a rape allegation.
