FC Barcelona has officially announced its bid to host the 2029 UEFA Champions League final, in cooperation with the Barcelona City Council and the Government of Catalonia, proposing the Spotify Camp Nou as the venue for the prestigious match.

In a statement released by the club, Barcelona confirmed that the bid has been submitted after obtaining the necessary certifications and preliminary approvals from the Union of European Football Associations (UEFA), with the backing of the Spanish Football Federation.

The club explained that this step represents the initial phase of UEFA’s evaluation and assessment process.

All required documentation has been submitted to advance the candidacy and allow UEFA to assess the suitability of both the city and the stadium in line with official hosting protocols.

Barcelona added that the final and complete bid dossier, including all mandatory documents, is scheduled to be formally submitted in early June 2026, after which UEFA will review the application and make its final decision.

The bid aligns with Barcelona’s broader ambition, alongside local authorities, to reinforce the city’s status as one of Europe’s leading football destinations and a regular host of major international sporting events.

On the sporting front, Barcelona has already secured qualification for the round of 16 of the 2025–2026 UEFA Champions League, finishing fifth in the league phase, underlining the club’s strong presence on the European stage as it pursues the opportunity to host the tournament’s showpiece event.
