FC Barcelona have officially announced the contract extension of young midfielder Fermin Lopez, securing his services until June 30, 2031, in recognition of his impressive performances with the Catalan side this season.

In a statement released on Friday, the club confirmed that an agreement had been reached to extend and improve the player’s contract for two additional seasons.

The formal signing is expected to take place in the coming days at the office of club president Joan Laporta, where Lopez will also address the media.

The renewal underlines Barcelona’s confidence in Lopez and their commitment to continuing a long-term project with one of La Masia’s standout graduates.

The Andalusian midfielder has reaffirmed his dedication to the club, continuing a journey shaped by perseverance, hard work and steady development within Barcelona’s youth system.

Born in Huelva on May 11, 2003, Lopez joined Barcelona in the summer of 2016 at the age of 13. He progressed through La Masia, where he developed both as a player and as an individual, embracing the club’s values and distinctive style of play.

Despite facing challenges along the way, his determination and resilience have been key in shaping the competitive mentality he now brings to the first team.

After advancing through Barcelona’s youth ranks, Lopez spent the 2022/23 season on loan at Linares Deportivo, a spell that proved crucial to his growth and maturity.

Upon returning to Camp Nou, he seized his opportunities with intensity, energy and a strong attacking mindset, earning his place as a valuable member of the senior squad.

Barcelona’s decision to tie Lopez down until 2031 reflects both his rising importance within the team and the club’s strategy of securing young talent as part of its long-term sporting vision.
