Al Ahly SC officially won the Egyptian Premier League title for the 2019-2020 season, for the fifth time in a row and the 42nd in its history, after Zamalek SC lost 0-1 to Aswan Club, at Cairo Stadium In the 28th round of the Premier League.
Aswan's Ibrahim Galal scored the winning goal over Zamalek at the end of the 1st half to hand ranking leader Al-Ahly, the league title with six rounds to spare.
Nine Zamalek regulars missed Aswan's match, mainly because of injuries which gave Zamalek's coach Tarek Yehia little options for the match squad, a few days after the French Patrice Carteron unilaterally terminated his contract to take charge of Saudi team Al-Taawon.
It is worth mentioning that this is Aswan's first-ever victory over Zamalek, which was deemed "historic" by Ahmed Koshari the team's manager.
Zamalek remained second in the table with 55 points and It will face bottom placed Tanta under Reda Abdel-Aal's leadership in their upcoming encounter next Tuesday.
