Ahly vs Talae El Gaish Match Report
El Gaish had a strong start to the game and nearly opened the scoring in the eighth minute but had a goal cancelled out by VAR for offside.
The CAF Champions League victors had the possession but failed to create any real threat on Mohamed Bassam’s goal in the first half.
In the second half, Al Ahly were dealt an injury blow when new signing Taher Mohamed was taken off and replaced by Mahmoud Kahraba.
Kahraba shortly opened the scoring three minutes after coming in; he fired the ball into the far left corner, giving his team the lead.
In the 92nd minute, Nasser Mansi snatched the equalizer for El-Gaish and stunned Al Ahly after placing an unstoppable header that hit the bar and went in.
Penalty Shootouts
Despite Ayman Ashraf and Mohamed Magdy Afsha missing from their respective shots, Al Ahly won the shoot-out after former player Hussein El-Sayed failed to score his side’s final penalty smacking it into the bar.
Pitso Mosimane has now won the treble with Al Ahly just two months after taking charge of the club following Egyptian Premier League and CAF Champions League triumphs.
