2024 Paris Olympics: Get to Know Day 1 Highlights, Results

Yesterday, the competitions of the 2024 Paris Olympics kicked off with a thrilling action. The competitions kicked off with men's football and men's rugby.

Day witnessed several attractive events, mainly the riots in the game between Morocco and Argentina in the opening game of men's football group stage contests.

Morocco ruled the game with 2-0 by Soufiane Rahimi, before Argentina hit the nets and returned to the game. 

Minutes before the end of the game, Argentina scored the equalizer which led to massive riots among the crowds. The game was suspended for two hours, before the referees checked the goal and disallowed it. The official called both teams to resume the game for the remaining three minutes in the stadium while it was empty to end with 2-1 for the Atlas Lions.

During the men's football competitions, the Egyptian U-23 football team were widely criticized due to their failure in capturing the victory over the Dominican Republic and their disappointing performance.

Finally, crowds in the game between Israel and Mali rose the Palestinian flags, and jeered the Israeli team and their anthem, condemning the violent acts of the Israeli army in Gaza, its people, and children. 

Another victory for the Arabs were captured as Iraq defeated Ukraine 2-1 which is the first victory for the Two Rivers Lions since 2004 in the Olympics. 

Japan thrashed Paraguay 5-0 which is the biggest football result in the Olympics.
