Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed on Saturday the issue of compensation for damages and losses incurred by Ukraine, as a result of Russian military operation.
In a statement, Zelensky said that “compensation for war damage is one of the important elements whose responsibility must be born by the aggressor state,” referring to Russia.
“To develop and implement a compensation mechanism, the Ukrainian president has formed a special group headed by the Director of the Presidential Office Andriy Yermak,” the statement read.
The group consistes of representatives of the Cabinet of Ministers, as well as Ukrainian and foreign experts specializing in international law, according to the statetmnet.
Moreover, the statement added that efforts are underway to form a specialized compensation committee through the conclusion of a multilateral international agreement with Ukrainian partners. This commission will be able to study requests for compensation for damages caused by the military operation.
